Another game is being readied for play at the Headingley Games Club. It’s ZOMBICIDE. Come and join the destruction of the living Dead at the club. No! Not the club members; the little plastic models in the game. Boardgamegeek review says

Zombicide is a collaborative game in which players take the role of a survivor – each with unique abilities – and harness both their skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead! Zombies are predictable, stupid but deadly, controlled by simple rules and a deck of cards. Unfortunately for you, there are a LOT more zombies than you have bullets.

Find weapons, kill zombies. The more zombies you kill, the more skilled you get; the more skilled you get, the more zombies appear. The only way out is zombicide!

Play ten scenarios on different maps made from the included modular map tiles, download new scenarios from the designer’s website, or create your own! Matthew  has bought the full set of toys so get ready for Zombie hunting.

The many 40k players are trying out the new 6th edition and also play at the Leeds Night Owls in Farsley on Sundays. Sorry about the poor ‘photos but I am a crap photographer.

We had two games in play. It seems to be a popular games system. We had better get some games board painted blue/black.

A game of Flames of War; Battlefront’s popular game system. There are several  players of this at the club and some are getting going again. We have got Late, Mid’ and Early versions of Brits,Soviet, German, US and Blitzkrieg French and German. In this battle the Italians have some good tanks and were confident veteran against a confidant trained US tank army deploying 12 Grants and a support units. Steve Nolan playing Italian got off to a good start by bagging two Grants and rushing an objective on the other side of the board. A reinforcement of another platoon of Grants, a tenacious resistance by the US artillery and recon combined with a long run of poor dice roles for the Italians secured a US victory-just.

Joseph McGivern at the Headingley Games wants to organise group of gamers who would be interested in a Slow running Inquisitor Campaign. Played in the standard Heroic 28mm scale?

Set in the 41st millennium Inquisitor is a narrative wargame that allows you to play the part of a bold hero or cruel villain battling in the dark and forgotten shadows of the galaxy. An Inquisitor is answerable to no one, save the Emperor himself, and their only remit is to protect Mankind at all costs. For an Inquisitor, the end always justifies the means, for they alone can truly begin to comprehend the threats to Mankind’s existence. It is this ultimate responsibility, and the differing methods around it, that often sees Inquisitors working against each other. The Inquisitor game centres on this conflict – the battle for the Emperor’s soul. Inquisitor is quite unlike any game you may have played previously.

It’s an Old (2005) Games workshop game that focused as the name suggested on Inquisitors and a few favored Retainers. The Game concentrated on narrative game play over competitive contest. Coming close to bridging the gap between a Role Play and something like Necromunda. Come along Thursday for a game.

A giant 24ft by 6ft table of beaches sea and hinterland of a mythical invasion of Ibiza in 1942 was put on in all day epic WW2 game by the Wakefield and district Wargamers last Saturday March 16th. About 10 players participated. Air & sea warfare preceded the landing as the allies fought to seize the two airfields. An epic game and an amazing effort from Andy Tim and others. Here are some scenes from the game:

Heroclix-the collectable miniature game by Wizkids. Heroclix was up for playing at the Headingley Games Club last Thursday. Lots of Heroes fuigures moving around the board bashing things. HeroClix is a collectible miniatures game that uses the Clix system that centers around the world of superhero comic books, especially the Marvel and DC Comics universes. Players construct teams of comic book heroes, villains, or characters from various video games series such as Street Fighter, Gears of War, and Halo and engage in a turn-by-turn battle on grid maps based on various storyline locations. The Hulk, Spiderman, iron man, green goblin, Mr Hyde, a huge Fondness for Batroc, a horrendous French stereotype with a fancy mustache called ze Leaper are some of the chosen few out on the board. It looks like it’s up for repeat games on future Thurdays.

The return of Bloodbowl

Blood Bowl is a Fantasy Football game created by Jervis Johnson for the British games company Games Workshop (but now under the aegis of their Specialist Games division) as a parody of American Football.[1] The game was first released in 1987 and has been re-released in new editions since. Blood Bowl is set in an alternate version of the Warhammer Fantasy setting, populated by traditional fantasy elements such as human warriors, goblins, dwarves, elves, orcs and trolls. I don’t know who posted this up on Wikipedia but two players had a game last week. A revival as it has often been played at the Headingley Games Club.
