Another game is being readied for play at the Headingley Games Club. It’s ZOMBICIDE. Come and join the destruction of the living Dead at the club. No! Not the club members; the little plastic models in the game. Boardgamegeek review says

Zombicide is a collaborative game in which players take the role of a survivor – each with unique abilities – and harness both their skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead! Zombies are predictable, stupid but deadly, controlled by simple rules and a deck of cards. Unfortunately for you, there are a LOT more zombies than you have bullets.

Find weapons, kill zombies. The more zombies you kill, the more skilled you get; the more skilled you get, the more zombies appear. The only way out is zombicide!

Play ten scenarios on different maps made from the included modular map tiles, download new scenarios from the designer’s website, or create your own! Matthew  has bought the full set of toys so get ready for Zombie hunting.

We had two games in play. It seems to be a popular games system. We had better get some games board painted blue/black.

Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in which players take control of powerful Rebel X-wings and nimble Imperial TIE fighters, facing them against each other in fast-paced space combat. Featuring stunningly detailed and painted miniatures, the X-Wing Miniatures Game recreates exciting Star Wars space combat throughout its several included scenarios. Select your crew, plan your maneuvers, and complete your mission! Watch the video tutorial here.

Joseph McGivern at the Headingley Games wants to organise group of gamers who would be interested in a Slow running Inquisitor Campaign. Played in the standard Heroic 28mm scale?

Set in the 41st millennium Inquisitor is a narrative wargame that allows you to play the part of a bold hero or cruel villain battling in the dark and forgotten shadows of the galaxy. An Inquisitor is answerable to no one, save the Emperor himself, and their only remit is to protect Mankind at all costs. For an Inquisitor, the end always justifies the means, for they alone can truly begin to comprehend the threats to Mankind’s existence. It is this ultimate responsibility, and the differing methods around it, that often sees Inquisitors working against each other. The Inquisitor game centres on this conflict – the battle for the Emperor’s soul. Inquisitor is quite unlike any game you may have played previously.

It’s an Old (2005) Games workshop game that focused as the name suggested on Inquisitors and a few favored Retainers. The Game concentrated on narrative game play over competitive contest. Coming close to bridging the gap between a Role Play and something like Necromunda. Come along Thursday for a game.

Heroclix-the collectable miniature game by Wizkids. Heroclix was up for playing at the Headingley Games Club last Thursday. Lots of Heroes fuigures moving around the board bashing things. HeroClix is a collectible miniatures game that uses the Clix system that centers around the world of superhero comic books, especially the Marvel and DC Comics universes. Players construct teams of comic book heroes, villains, or characters from various video games series such as Street Fighter, Gears of War, and Halo and engage in a turn-by-turn battle on grid maps based on various storyline locations. The Hulk, Spiderman, iron man, green goblin, Mr Hyde, a huge Fondness for Batroc, a horrendous French stereotype with a fancy mustache called ze Leaper are some of the chosen few out on the board. It looks like it’s up for repeat games on future Thurdays.

Space Empires is a game in the finest tradition of 4X space games – eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. Make no mistake, all four “X’s” are included in this game. This is a wargame where the purpose of building your empire is not to feel good about your achievement, but to destroy your enemies and burn their colonies. This is from a review in Boardgamegeek. Sagar and Steve enjoyed playing this last Thursday at the Club. It has a high rating.

The game includes carriers and fighters, mines, cloaking, a very large technology tree, fifteen ship classes from scout to dreadnought, merchant shipping, colonization, mining, terraforming, bases, shipyards, black holes, warp points, and non-player aliens, yet the rules are short and intuitive and the game can be finished on one sitting. This is NOT a game that is hard to get into. The playtest rules are only 8 pages long for the basic game and increase to 11 pages in length when the advanced rules are included. Desinged by Jim Krohn and published by GMT Games.
